Mesh Mobile
Role: Product Designer
When: April 2022
The Opportunity
Telnyx’s Wireless offering is expanding, so we were looking into expanding its network infrastructure with it. Come Mesh Mobile: a home-first distributed network solution that rewards Gateway holders (that would provide service for Telnyx SIM Cards) with a coin developed in-house.
The goal
The experience was set as follows:
- Offer the hardware (Gateways) in an exclusive website, under a new brand
- Have an in-gateway webapp to set up the local crypto wallet and link the user’s wallet
- A Mesh Mobile Portal, on which you’ll be able to see all your gateways and collect your rewards
This case will focus on the Mesh Mobile Portal. This is the most important part of the experience, because it ties the whole thing together.
Research
Because we wanted to give a face to the concept, and quickly, the most research I could work on was competitive analysis. Although there was a couple of companies doing the same thing. But I honestly wasn’t aware of what I thought was the most interesting part of the project: The crypto reward.
There were gaps in functionality for most people doing the same, they were strong technically but the user (if it wasn’t savvy in web3) would get lost easily. We wanted to be the most transparent possible but also make what we were doing accessible.
I also came across some great insight into designing for web3 environments:
- Decision fatigue is amplified when it comes to web3 products. There are so many new applications being born constantly, in a race to capitalize within the system, but the users can’t keep up.
- Users take too many new roles. They no longer just consume or produce the data, they have to take ownership and care of it, in various ways.
- Speed of development is exponential. Given how open building on the blockchain is, the speed of development is exponential, so bad actors will outnumber the good ones.
- Build for a world on which multiple systems can exist together interdependently and thrive.
Proposed Solution
With all this in mind we were most sure about the flow we wanted the user to take part on:
I wanted to cover the most parts of the initial flow, but for the time being we were focusing on the Mesh Mobile Portal (context marked in blue). The Final Mockups will be for that.

Business Impact
Although I left before this project was completed, it is projected that this alone will help double the revenue for Telnyx’s Wireless Offering.
